The Irmanator

After being shaken, rattled and rolled around a little bit by Irma, we were thinking about our farmers and how their cotton fared. Luckily, they weren't in the same boat as Houston and dodged most of the flooding. It does pose a decent question on how the cotton market will be affected in the coming years with climate change problems. Texas is one of the larger cotton producers in the world and sees it's fair share of storms spawned from the Atlantic. Cotton, originally a plant from Southern Asia, has chosen to thrive in the Southern United States for many reasons and Hurricanes probably most certainly aren't one of them. As the size and intensity of these storms continue to increase, we expect to see some creative adaptations to the way our farmers work, in turn effecting the way we work.
