An update from the Spiritex Team:

It has been said that a picture is worth 1000 words. However, we think that the devastation of Western NC wrought by Hurricane Helene can be narrowed to the uncertainty conveyed by a few words: heartbreaking, demoralizing and depressing.

Seeing the actions of both our community and the wonderful volunteers who have helped us as we make the slow journey to recovery has shown us that the spirit of Asheville can be described in other, more empowering words: resilient, loving, and hopeful.

Spiritex has been locally manufacturing garments from organic cotton fiber to fashion in Asheville for over twenty years. Our warehouse and sewing facility is located in the building shown in the attached photo. Our retail store is in the heart of downtown, which is currently, unfortunately, a shadow of itself with the usual vibrancy replaced by shuttered stores and restaurants.

After the initial shock and need for self preservation, our staff is slowly returning with the aforementioned indomitable spirit, grit and purpose that defines Asheville. These are the workers that develop, make, print, distribute and sell the wonderful items that have come to define the quality, uniqueness and functionality of our fine brand.

We know that Ashevile epitomizes “a world of need right now”. There are many groups in the private and public sector doing great work who are deserving of support. As a member of the community, Spiritex is supporting these efforts however we can, with donations of product and the depth of our human resources. 

We have been asked by customers, friends, family and suppliers about how they can directly help us. The best way to support and sustain us is to give us orders! If you’re a designer, creator, printer or the like, we could really use your business through purchases on our fabric and wholesale garment websites. If you’re a customer who loves Spiritex garments and graphics, we would love for your support as we ramp up for the holidays with a purchase either online or in store.

If you’d love to share our products and our mission with loved ones for the holidays but just can’t decide what to get them, we are incentivizing gift certificate purchases:

Asking for assistance in this time of need seemed like a big ask, but from the Spiritex team and all of the community of Asheville, we’re seeking your support through your patronage, for both us and all of the unique small businesses, talented artisans and innovative restaurants and breweries that make Western NC a wonderful place for both locals and for visitors.
