Q & A - Why'd you change your name from Spiritex to Asheville Apparel?

Q: Why did y'all switch the name?
A: Well, fortunately, we've seen an uptick in the sales of our USA grown & manufactured cotton fabrics, which was the foundational idea carried over from our first endeavor that evolved Spiritex to what it is today, the spirit of sustainable textiles. So in short, the spirit of Ecosport lives on through Spiritex and Spiritex lives through Asheville Apparel and many others.

Closed Loop Fabric Dyeing Systems - 100% Recycled Water

All of our fabrics are finished and dyed with natural citrus scours for natural, peroxide wash for white, and GOTS certified synthetic dyes processed in a closed loop water system that is able to recycle 100% of the water used in processing. As natural dyes aren't truly sustainable, we've opted to utilize available technology to bridge the gap with advancements in technology.

Knits, what we know.

As the pioneers of the very first mass produced organic cotton t-shirt almost 30 years ago, we know the biz inside and out and have even helped larger big box brands like Nike, Patagonia, Billibong, etc. set up sustainable and organic fiber programs of their own.

Spinning Onward

Once the ginned cotton is tightly compacted into moveable bales, they make their way from the farms in Texas down the freeways towards North and South Carolina to the spinners we work with dispersed throughout the Carolinas.

Cotton Flowers

Cotton Flowers

Cotton as a crop made almost purely of cellulose is spun into the fabric of our civilization and provides only a wisp from which our rich tapestry is woven. It's also where our story begins.
